The World Health Organization continues to take hits. In 2017, the candidate who now leads the World Health Organization (WHO) and is now Director General,Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was accused of covering up epidemics in his home country, Ethiopia.
Last week, Trump blamed the WHO for the dire situation in the United States and threatened to pull its funding.
On April 11, Taiwan’s CDC revealed its email to WHO IHR Focal point inquiring about COVID19, then known as NCOV, regarding its person to person spread. Taiwan is accusing the World Health Organization of being neglectful or ignorant of the way it has handled the situation.
Taiwan claims that it has sounded the alarm last year regarding the person to person spread of the virus but WHO refused to act on it.
WHO has denied that it ignored Taiwan’s warning. The US has said that WHO has put politics first and “showed too much deference to China and questioned why it did not pursue a lead from Taiwan.”
