Facebook Offer Options for Musicians to Earn

Since the pandemic, most of the music industry has been down and out. Youtube has been one of the sources of income for musicians and singers but the ones that are currently making money are those that have already an established audience like Italian Bassist, Davie504 (See video below).

As for the rest, starting a channel will not help so much unless it has good following or you’re already well known. Otherwise, singers and musicians have either taken the time to write new music, revise, recreate or plainly perform for free on social media. None of that made any money to pay for bills or feed the family.

It might take awhile for events, bars and clubs to open for awhile. Well, we have good news for our artists. Facebook has recently announced that they have added a feature on their pages that users can now charge for access for live events. Now that’s not great news for all musicians but definitely some who had a scheduled tour.

“You’ll be able to mark Facebook Events as online only and, in the coming weeks, integrate Facebook Live so you can broadcast to your guests. To support creators and small businesses, we plan to add the ability for Pages to charge for access to events with Live videos on Facebook – anything from online performances to classes to professional conference,” – as mentioned in the announcement.

We’re still not clear yet if they will allow others to make money from songs that have copyright. As for now, that’s another option for musicians, apart from helping others with their musical score or video production to make ends meet. We do hope someone will be able to find a way for the industry to survive
